As prohibition sparked a whole new movement in the 20’s so did women’s fashion. As the act of banning alcohol took place, women found a way to rebel against the traditional styles that women held back then and set a more provocative tone. Women were seen in nightclubs wearing small, tight, skin showing dresses. They also wore a lot more makeup and jewelry, with bobbed haircuts. Bold statements were made as girls were seen acting in more independent promiscuous ways. They smoked, drank a lot and danced with men; some in more ways than others. Back in the day older women would have taken those offensively because it changed the way in which women were seen and treated. Women from the 20's expressed their independence through self-expression and how they dressed was a reflection of their rebellious personalities. The attitudes of women have certainly changed in the 20's and are continuing to be seen in today's century. Below is an example of how these women have transformed from a standard house wife to outgoing rebellious women. |
